About
We build venue software for people who also run the venue
Smart Path is event management software for independent venues in the United States: wedding venues, banquet halls, event centers and catering companies. It is built for operators where the person selling the event is also the person running it.
What we build
Smart Path handles the operational side of renting out event space. Bookings and tentative holds on a shared calendar that flags conflicts before they are confirmed. Deposits and balances tracked against each event. Client emails that send themselves on schedule. Event sheets and signage generated from the booking rather than retyped into a separate document.
That list is deliberately short. Most venue software is sold to properties with a sales department and an implementation budget, and it is shaped accordingly: lead scoring, proposal workflows, commission tracking, multi-property reporting. Those are real capabilities for the businesses that need them, and they are noise for a venue with six employees.
We build for the second group. The independent venue running somewhere between twenty-five and a few hundred events a year, where the binding constraint is not sales throughput but operational accuracy, and where the most expensive thing that can happen is a Saturday sold twice or a Saturday never sold at all.
Why calendar accuracy is the whole problem
A venue sells something unusual: a finite, perishable, physically constrained thing. The main ballroom on a specific Saturday either exists or it does not. It cannot be sold twice. It cannot be moved. If it goes unsold it is gone permanently.
That makes venue software an inventory problem wearing the clothes of a CRM. Almost every expensive failure in venue operations traces back to the calendar being wrong: two events promised the same date, a hold nobody closed that blocked peak season, a room shown as available when it was still full of last night’s chairs.
None of those are failures of effort. They happen when the answer to “is this date free?” can be obtained from more than one place. Our entire design starts from making that impossible.
Six things we decided early
These are commitments rather than features, and a few of them cost us money.
The calendar is the product
Everything else in a venue system exists to serve one question: what is genuinely available. We design outward from that, which is why conflict checking happens at the moment of entry rather than in a report afterwards.
Price for the whole team
Per-seat pricing pushes small venues into sharing one login, which destroys the only benefit that matters. We charge a flat rate with unlimited users because the product does not work properly unless everyone is on it.
Publish the price
A venue owner should be able to decide whether something is worth it without entering a sales process. Our pricing is on the pricing page, in full, including what the higher tier actually adds.
Say what we do not do
We do not process payments, generate contracts or run a sales pipeline. Listing those absences on our own pricing page costs us some demos and saves everyone the wasted ones.
Your data leaves with you
Every event exports to PDF and every date range to Excel. Booking history is a venue’s own business asset, and making it hard to take elsewhere is a way of winning that we are not interested in.
Be live in a week
At a venue where the owner also runs the events, implementation time is capacity taken from the season. Setup is entering your spaces and your confirmed dates, and it should take an afternoon.
We would rather talk than sell
If Smart Path is not right for your venue, a twenty-minute conversation is the cheapest way for both of us to find that out.
